my astrological approach
I have a semi-psychological, semi-cultural-archetypal, semi-traditional approach to astrology. I use whole sign houses, the tropical zodiac, and traditional rulerships. However, I also incorporate the outer planets Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, and sometimes the asteroid Chiron, if I feel they seem particularly important to a person’s chart. Transits and annual profections are the primary timing techniques I use.
If you have any questions about my particular astrological style, feel free to email me before booking a reading. If you’re after a specific kind of reading that I can’t provide, I can point you in the direction of other astrologers who may be better suited.
values
“Words are to be taken seriously. Words set things in motion. I’ve seen them doing it. Words set up atmospheres, electrical fields, charges. I’ve felt them doing it. Words conjure. I try not to be careless about what I utter, write, sing. I’m careful about what I give voice to.”
— Toni Cade Bambara
I use astrology as a framework for finding new words about ourselves. Together, we look at the symbols and images that emerge from your natal chart and weave them together with your experiences. With these symbols as a prompt, we can practice gentle enquiry about your life and its path.
This gentleness is key: no astrological placement needs to be fixed or forcibly changed. Instead, we can become curious about ourselves, compassionate to our complexities and challenges, and even feel a sense of wonder and awe about the everchanging story our natal chart tells through our lives.
While I may know how to read a natal chart, it is up to you to draw the connections to your life and your experiences. I may ask questions as prompt, but I am not a higher authority or expert on your life—you know yourself best, and a chart reading can never fully encompass the meaning of your life or the answers to your questions. The goal of a reading is to show you what emerges from the chart, in order to aid you in developing your own insight or clarity about yourself and your potential. If you are already familiar with astrology, you’re more than welcome to share what insights you’ve already learnt from your chart and how you understand your placements personally.
Together, we can work from any themes or issues you have present in your life, but I cannot give concrete advice beyond general remediation of your placements. Sometimes, I may draw in concepts from outside astrology, things I’ve read and watched and learnt, if that also resonates with you. Sometimes, we may not arrive at a clear answer—often astrology does not give us direct answers, but instead more specific questions, places to point our attention.
In my interpretations, I open up various themes and make space for you to share your personal approach to them. Concepts like work and money, relationships, friendships, partnerships, creativity, community, health and sickness, spirituality, home and family all carry different meanings for all of us, and our natal charts can help us see what makes us different as precious and generative.
My interpretations will be guided in part by my own values and impressions, but they are always open to question, and you are always welcome to tell me if what I say doesn’t resonate or isn’t relevant to you. You are always welcome to change the topic of conversation. I will check in periodically to see if the reading is aligning with your priorities for the session.
guidelines and policies
Anything shared with me in a reading is strictly confidential and will not be shared with anyone else without explicit consent. Every session is recorded and stored behind password protection. I will not disclose to anyone that you had a session with me—however, you are welcome to publicly share anything from our session together.
Sessions will be conducted over Zoom for accessibility and ease. If an online session is difficult for any reason, contact me and we may be able to hold a session on the phone. A phone session may not be able to be recorded.
You may cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before a session. If you don’t show up to our session due to illness or unforeseen events, your session can be rescheduled once. If you are more than 15 minutes late, your session will be considered a no show and you can reschedule once. Accessibility is a priority and I understand that reliability can sometimes be difficult due to circumstances. Please contact me if you’re unsure if you will be able to commit to a certain time.
Similarly, I may occasionally need to reschedule sessions. I will do my best to let you know as far in advance as possible. If I am no longer able to consult for any reason, I will let you know as soon as I can and refund you in full.
I am not a mental health professional and cannot give advice or treatment of any kind. Astrology is not a replacement for medical care. If anything emerges before the reading or during the reading that suggests that you might be in need of a higher level of care, I will refer you to support services.
My practice does not offer any kind of legal counsel or financial advice. I do not make concrete future predictions and cannot advise on strict timing that may affect your material well-being.
Notes on gifting:
Please reach out to me if you would like to gift a session to someone! It’s important that everybody come to a session with an intention in mind, so I recommend that you do not gift a session as a last-minute surprise. I would like to get in touch with the recipient to ensure they have read my guidelines prior to the gifted reading, and to ask what they might want out of the reading.
Readings for friends:
If we know each other very well (enough for me to know many details of your life already) then it may not be appropriate to do a structured reading together—however, we can figure out a different kind of conversation, somewhere between the informal chat and the structured conversation, and I will price it accordingly.
